Norton Carnegie Tabbed ECC Men's Soccer
Defensive Player of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College senior defender Norton Carnegie (Kingston, Jamaica) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. He is the second Flyer to earn a weekly honor from the league this year, following Santiago Riera's (Valhalla, NY) Rookie of the Week selection on September 11.

Carnegie anchored Mercy's defense that shut down top scoring threat Gerald Jones and posted a 1-0 shutout of ECC foe St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday.  Both Mercy and St. Thomas Aquinas were ranked in last week's NSCAA Northeast Regional poll.

The Flyers are currently 3-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in ECC play.  Carnegie has played a key role in Mercy's backfield this year, helping the squad allow only six goals in five games.  Mercy returns to action on Wednesday, September 27, at Molloy.
