Mercy College Men's Soccer Ranked No. 9 in NSCAA Northeast Regional Poll
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's soccer team is ranked No. 9 in the second National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Northeast Regional Poll of the 2006 season. The Flyers moved up one spot from No. 10, a week ago.
Mercy (2-2-0) has split its last two contests, defeating Wilmington by a score of 3-0 at home on September 6, before falling 1-0 in overtime at the hands of visiting Felician on September 11. Senior midfielder Alexandre Augusto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) currently leads the squad with seven points on three goals and one assist. Sophomore forward Michael Frimpong-Manso (Accra, Ghana) has also scored a pair of goals.
Defensively the Flyers have posted a combined goals against average of 1.47. Senior Nicholas Evans (Kingston, Jamaica) has seen the majority of action between the posts, registering a 1.20 GAA, while freshman Carl Spence (St. Catherine, Jamaica) has allowed one goal in his first 96:27 of action for a 0.93 GAA.
Mercy will return to action on Saturday, September 16, at home versus Goldey Beacom in a non-conference contest at 2:00 p.m.
