Mercy's Santiago Riera Named ECC Men's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week
DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College men's soccer player Santiago Riera (Valhalla, NY) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Co-Rookie of the Week. He shares the award with Gilbert Bayonne of Bridgeport.
In his first collegiate game, Riera came off the bench to net his first career goal in the 48th minute of a 3-0 win over Wilmington on September 6. The 6-foot midfielder connected on a header from about 12 yards out off a corner kick by Mohammed Diallo (Bronx, NY).
Mercy (2-2-0), ranked No. 10 in the region, will be back in action again on Saturday, September 16, at home versus Goldey Beacom.
