Mercy Men's Soccer Ranked No. 10 in First NSCAA Northeast Regional Poll
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College men's soccer team is ranked No. 10 in the first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Northeast Regional Poll of the 2006 season. The organization released its rankings on Tuesday, September 5.
Mercy (1-1) fell by a score of 4-2 in its opener at West Chester University on August 25, but bounced back the next day with a 2-1 victory over the University of D.C. Senior midfielder Alexandre Augusto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) scored a goal against West Chester and assisted on the Flyers' first tally versus U.D.C. Sophomore forward Michael Frimpong-Manso (Accra, Ghana) netted both goals against U.D.C., including what would hold up as the game-winner in the 44th minute. Junior forward Kevin Gray (Kingston, Jamaica) scored Mercy's other goal versus West Chester and sophomore Quaison Carter (Teaneck, NJ) assisted on the game-winner versus U.D.C.
Mercy was postponed twice last week and will return to action on Wednesday, September 6, at home against Wilmington before traveling to the University of D.C. on Saturday, September 9.
