CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (July 13, 2017) – The Mercy College men's lacrosse team was named the recipient of the East Coast Conference (ECC) Academic Team of Excellence Award for the sport of men's lacrosse for the second time in three years, as announced by the conference office earlier today.
The ECC Academic Team of Excellence Awards are presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport during the academic year.
The award is the second for the Mercy athletic department with men's lacrosse taking home the honor after the 2014-15 season.
ECC Coach of the Year Jordan Levine and the Mavericks finished with a 3.285 cumulative GPA on the year and finished 12-5 overall in a year that saw the program nationally ranked throughout the season. Mercy won a school record 12 games and advanced to the ECC Tournament for the third straight year. The Mavericks earned their first ever ECC Tournament semifinal victory and advanced to the championship game for the first time after finishing the regular season second in the ECC standings.
