McPartland Named ECAC Division II Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year; MacSpadyen Tabbed to All-ECAC First Team

DANBURY, Conn. (May 23, 2017) – Mercy College men's lacrosse freshman Tommy McPartland (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Lacrosse Division II Rookie of the Year, while sophomore Ryan MacSpadyen (Toronto, Ontario/Seneca College) was tabbed to the All-ECAC First Team.

McPartland earns the Rookie of the Year honor after being named ECC Rookie of the Year and Third-Team All-ECC. McPartland was the leading freshman scorer in the ECC and was a two-time time ECC Rookie of the Week and five-time ECAC Rookie of the Week. The freshman led Mercy with 33 goals and 65 shots on goal. This freshman also recorded 17 assists for a total of 50 points. His points and goal total both rank in the top ten in the conference. The freshman finished the regular season with six hat tricks and assists in ten games.

MacSpadyen takes home First Team honors after being named First Team All-ECC earlier this month. The four-time ECC Weekly Honor Roll recipient led the Mavericks with 60 points and 30 assists, while also adding 30 goals for the season. His point total ranks third in the conference. The sophomore finished with five games this season where he recorded a hat-trick, and had three games where he dished out three assists.
