GREENSBURG, Pa. (Apr. 21, 2012) - On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College men's lacrosse team saw its record slip to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the East Coast Conference after a 17-9 defeat to Seton Hill University. The Griffins improved to 8-4 on the year and 5-3 in the league.
Seton Hill held the scoreboard advantage throughout all four quarters. Mercy found the back of the goal from time to time, but it was a constant uphill struggle trying to make a comeback that ultimately never occured.
For Mercy, junior attacker Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) had three goals and two assists, while senior midfielder Craig Blom (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and junior midfielder C.J. Fleming (Middletown, N.Y.) had one tally and one assist each. Senior attackman Sal Spinelli (East Islip, N.Y.), junior midfielder John Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Patrick Hodapp (Oak Ridge, N.J.) and junior midfielder Ryan Elfeld (Long Beach, N.Y.) also scored one goal apiece.
In the cage, junior goalkeeper T.J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) made 13 saves.
Head Coach Steve Manitta and the Mavericks return to action on Wednesday when they play at Pace University at 3:00 p.m.
