DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 9, 2012) - Last week, Nike named Mercy College junior attackman Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) its Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for his stellar performance for the Mavericks. This honor coincides with Marzocca taking home East Coast Conference Player of the Week praise.

Last week, Marzocca put together a stellar week at attack for the Mavericks in two critical East Coast Conference wins. In a tight 12-11 victory over Molloy, the North Babylon native scored five goals and recorded one assist for six points. Versus Dominican, he tallied three points as he scored twice and dished out one assist. Two of those seven goals came as man-up.

"Mike's a complete player. His position change from midfield to attack has given our offense a boost over the past few games," Head Coach Steve Manitta commented. "His ability to get to the goal and improved decision making is creating nice scoring opportunities not only for Mike, but for his teammates as well. He's a beast."

Marzocca currently leads the squad in both goals (19) and assists (6) for a total of 25 points on the year. Three of those goals were man-up, while one came a player down. He's also picked up 13 ground balls.

The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, April 14 when they venture to Long Island to battle league-rival C.W. Post at 1:00 p.m.
