Mercy Men's Lacrosse Ranked #8 in Latest USILA Coaches Poll

A major shakeup in the USILA Division II Coaches Poll occurred this week, and, when the dust settled, the Mercy College men's lacrosse team is tied for eighth place with East Coast Conference rival NYIT. Five of the top nine ranked teams are members of ECC.

The entire poll can be found here.

Earlier this week, Mercy (7-1, 3-1 ECC) defeated local rival Pace University, 11-7.  The Mavericks then won their East Coast Conference matchup with Wheeling Jesuit University over the weekend, by a score of 9-3.

This is Mercy's fourth consecutive week as a ranked team.

The poll saw quite a bit of movement.  Limestone has taken over the top spot, with 120 points, followed by LeMoyne with 110 points.  ECC member Dowling, who this week defeated then #1 C.W. Post, is now ranked third with 96 points.  C.W. Post drops to fourth, with 82 points.  Mercyhurst is in the fifth spot with 69 points, Merrimack is in sixth with 60 points, and Queens is in seventh with 54 points.

Tied with Mercy for eighth place is ECC member NYIT, with 51 points. Mercy beat NYIT, 16-11, earlier in the season.

Mercy returns to action on Saturday, when the Mavericks travel to Lake Erie for a Conference matchup.
