Mercy Men's Lacrosse Improves in USILA Coaches Poll to #7
Despite suffering its first loss of the season, the Mercy College men's lacrosse team gained a spot in the USILA Coaches Poll, moving up to #7 in the country.
Over the weekend, Mercy, then ranked #8, lost at #6 Mercyhurst, by a score of 9-7. Earllier in the week, Mercy beat Franklin Pierce 22-4.
For Mercy (5-1 overall, 2-1 East Coast Conference), this is the third consecutive week in the poll.
ECC member C.W. Post remains atop the poll with 129 points, followed by Limestone, with 124 points. LeMoyne is ranked third with 108 points, followed by Merrimack with 101 points. Spots five, six, and seven all belong to the ECC, with Dowling (77), followed by Mercyhurst (67), and Mercy (49).
Rounding out the Top Ten are Queens (N.C.), Bentley, and Adelphi.
Also today, Laxpower.com released the updated Power Ratings, where Mercy is eighth with a rating of 87.54.
This week, Mercy will host a pair of games, beginning with local rival Pace University on Wednesday, March 23, in non-conference action. On Saturday, March 26, ECC affiliate member Wheeling Jesuit (W. Va.) travels to Dobbs Ferry.
