Manitta 1st coach for Mercy

Steve Manitta helped build Chatham boys lacrosse into one of the most formidable varsity programs in the state of New Jersey. Now the coach, who also helped launch the Roxbury program, is ready to take on an even bigger challenge.

On Tuesday, Manitta was named the first men's lacrosse coach at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Manitta, who currently has a record of 115 wins and 47 losses over eight seasons, should be able to return to Chatham High for a ninth season since the Division II school will not be fielding a team until the spring of 2010.
