Mercy's Colin Senior Named ECC Rookie of the Week

Mercy College men’s basketball student-athlete Colin Senior was honored today by the East Coast Conference, being named the Rookie of the Week for the period ending January 30, 2011.

The sophomore guard from Hackensack, N.J., led all players in points with a career-high 24 in the team’s sole game, a 100-87 loss at home to NYIT. Playing 33 minutes, he made nine of his 14 shots, hitting at 64.3%, including going six for nine from beyond the three-point arc. Additionally, he was tied for the team lead with five rebounds, and added three assists and two steals.

He is the first Maverick to earn any honor from the Conference this season.

For the season, he has played in all 17 games, having started twice. He is the team’s fourth leading scorer, averaging 7.5 points per game.

Mercy (0-17; 0-12 ECC) returns to action tonight, playing at Molloy College at 8:00 p.m. Later in the week, Mercy travels to Dowling on Wednesday, Feb. 2, before hosting CW Post on Saturday, Feb. 5, as the Mavericks celebrate its Basketball Alumni.
