Jones' 18 Points Not Enough In Mavericks' 83-54 Loss To C.W. Post

Mavericks fall to 0-2 in the East Coast Conference.
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. -- Rookie Tyler Jones (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) tallied 18 points as he led the Mercy College men's basketball team for the second time this season. The Mavericks lost 83-54 to the C.W. Post Pioneers in East Coast Confernce action at Pratt Gymnaskum on Saturday.
Despite a late run in at the end of the first half, the Mavericks fall to 0-2 in the East Coast Conference and 0-5 overall.
Jones shot 5-for-7 from the field, was 3-for-5 from behind the 3-point arc and 5-for7 from the free throw line.
Five points from Jones and eight points by classmate Bryan Van Cott (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) with just under four minutes left in the first half cut the Pioneer lead from 20 points to 12, 40-28.
Van Cott scored a second-best team high of 15 points. Van Coitt was 6-for-8 from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from the 3-point range.
Four Pioneers scored in double-figures. C.W. Post was led by Nemanja Jokic with a double-double, 20 points, 16 rebounds.
The Mavericks will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 9 when they play their first home game of the season. Mercy College will tip off against Bridgeport as part of a ECC double-header which starts at 5 p.m. with the women. The men will follow at 7 p.m.
