Gunville Leads Team With Season-High 18 Points In 94-72 Loss To St. Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Mercy College men’s basketball team went head-to-head with the College of St. Rose in a Northeast 10-East Coast Conference Challenge game over the holiday break on Dec. 30. Five Mavericks scored in double-digits against St. Rose, despite the 94-72 Mercy College loss at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Junior Jimmy Gunville (Raynham, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) scored a season-best 18 points to lead the Mavericks. Gunville shot 6-for-9 from the field, all 3-pointers.
Junior-transfer Hasaan Powell (Bridgeport, Conn./Iowa Central CC) scored the second-best team tally of 13 points. Rookie Tyler Jones (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) posted 12 points, while juniors Ed Wilson (Bronx, N.Y/Monsignor Scanlan) and Manny Garcia (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) both scored 11 points. Wilson also led the team in assists with eight.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 0-9 on the season.
