Mercy College hosts second-annual basketball showcase on Thursday, Oct. 29.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy College men’s and women’s basketball teams will get the 2009-10 season underway with Maverick Madness on Thursday, October 29. Activities will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the Mercy College Gymnasium on the Dobbs Ferry campus. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and all Mercy College students, fans and fellow student-athletes are welcome to attend.

The first 150 fans in attendance will receive a free Mavericks basketball t-shirt. Fans will get their first opportunity to see both squads in action as they are introduced and will compete in skills events, including a three-point shoot out and slam dunk contest. Lucky fans will also be chosen to participate in either event. Throughout the event, there will also be prizes raffled off by members of each basketball team.

Get your first look at this year’s squads guided by men’s head coach Sean O’Connor and women’s head coach Kelli Dunlay, both in their first season with the Mavericks. Come out for a night of fun and Mercy College pride. Children in attendance will have an opportunity to shoot on court and take part in an autograph session with the players following the event.
