Men’s Basketball Places Two on ECC’s
All-Rookie Team
Conference Honors Jones and Van Cott
The East Coast Conference has announced end-of-season honors for
men’s basketball, and two Mercy College freshmen – Tyler
Jones (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) and Bryan Van
Cott (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) – were named
to the All-Rookie Team.
Jones, a 6’0” guard, started nine of the 25 games in
which he played. He averaged 9.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game
on the year, while amassing 24 steals and as many assists. He shot
38.8% from the floor, and .322 from three-point land.
Van Cott, a 6’4” forward, started 26 of the 27 games in
which he saw action. The third leading scorer on the team with 11.3
points per game, he led the team in rebounding with 5.7 per
contest. He was third on the team in shooting, connecting on 37.2%
of his shots from the floor. His 35.9% shooting from beyond the arc
led the Mavericks.
The men’s basketball team finished the season with a 1-27
overall record, including a 1-20 mark within the ECC.
