Mercy Men Fall at STAC
The Mercy College men’s basketball lost on Saturday afternoon to St. Thomas Aquinas College, 90-64.
STAC would open the scoring with a three-pointer, only to have Jimmy Gunville (Raynham, Mass.,/Bridgewater-Raynham) return the favor and knot the score at three apiece. Bryan Van Cott would add a pair of free throws, and Mercy took an early 5-3 lead. STAC would assert their dominance, going on a 16-2 run. The Spartans would never trail again.
Manny Garcia (Bronx, N.Y. Cardinal Spellman) and Ed Wilson (Bronx, N.Y./Msgr. Scanlon) each would contribute 20 points for Mercy, while Bryan Van Cott (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) added 10. Gunville scored nine, and Desentrie Allen (Bridgeport, Conn./Kolbe Cathedral) poured in five off the bench.

Wednesday, February 24, game at Molloy and a Saturday, February 27,
tilt at home against NYIT.
