MERCY CLOSES OUT 2010 SEASON WITH 102-85 LOSS TO NYIT
The Mercy College men's basketball team saw its 2010 campaign close with a loss to New York Institute of Technology in an East Coast Conference game from the Mercy College Gymnasium on Saturday, February 27. The Mavericks finished the season with a 1-27 record, including a 1-20 mark in the ECC.
Junior Ed Wilson (Bronx, N.Y., Monsignor Scanlan) paced the Mavericks with 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Classmate Manny Garcia (Bronx, N.Y., Cardinal Spellman) chipped in with 21 points and freshman guard Romaine Wall (Hackensack, N.J., Hackensack) came off the bench to score 11. The Bears were led by junior forward Jerrell Walker (Stockton, Cal.), who contributed with 18 points on eight-of-nine field goals, in a reserve effort. Four NYIT starters reached double figures in scoring as senior guard Anthony Clarke (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) led the starters with 15 points. As a team, the Bears shot nearly 57% from the field while out rebounding the Mavericks by a 42-32 margin.
