Mercy College Men's Basketball Defeated at Concordia, 76-62

BRONXVILLE, NY - The Mercy College men's basketball team fell by a score of 76-62 at Concordia on Wednesday. The Mavericks are now 6-15 overall and 5-9 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play.

Freshman guard Jimmy Gunville (Raynham, MA) paced Mercy with a career-high 19 points, going 5-for-12 from three-point range and 2-of-2 at the free throw line. Senior guard Paul Flowers (New York, NY) added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Senior forward Keiron Guy (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in 11 points and five boards.

Concordia's Troy Young led all players with 26 points, going 10-for-14 from the field and 4-for-4 at the charity stripe. Richard Fields added 22 points and handed out six assists for the Clippers (9-12, 8-6 ECC).

The contest was tied 26-26 at the break, but Concordia pulled away in the second half, outscoring Mercy 50-36 over the final 20 minutes. The Clippers shot 51 percent from the field in the second frame and 47.5 percent for the game, while out-rebounding the Mavericks 44-24.

The Mavericks will return to action on Saturday, February 9, when they host NYIT beginning at 3:00 p.m.
