Mercy's Devon Mirjah Selected to PrestoSports/MBWA Weekly Honor Roll
DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College men's basketball player Devon Mirjah (Bronx, NY/Malverne) has been named to this week's PrestoSports/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Honor Roll. Mirjah was one of seven men's basketball players from the New York Metropolitan area to receive the honor, while Carlos Rivera of Hofstra was named Player of the Week.
Mirjah, a 6-foot-8 senior forward, averaged a double-double in a pair of games last week, posting 17.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. He also averaged 3.5 blocks per game, shot 43 percent from three-point range, and hit 12-of-14 (85.7 percent) at the charity stripe.
At Bridgeport on Wednesday, Mirjah recorded his second double-double of the season by netting 17 points and grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. He also collected four blocks and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. On Saturday, Mirjah finished his collegiate career by scoring 18 points and pulling down eight boards at Queens. He also added three more blocks, went 2-for-3 from long range, and hit 6-of-8 at the free throw line.
Mirjah was Mercy's leading scorer on the year, averaging 14.0 points per game, and ranked second with 6.4 rebounds per contest.
