            BROOKVILLE, NY - The Mercy College men's basketball team fell by score of 88-60, at the hands of host C.W. Post on Saturday, January 20, in Brookville, NY. The Flyers are now 4-11 overall and 3-5 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, while the Pioneers improved to 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

            Junior guard Victor Sidberry (New York, NY) led Mercy with 11 points, while junior guard Chanze Wellington (Spring Valley, NY) added 10 points and two assists, and freshman guard Vince Jordan (Spring Valley, NY) chipped in nine points, five boards and three assists.

            Mercy trailed 7-5 early on after a three-pointer from senior forward Devon Mirjah (Bronx, NY), but the Pioneers went on a 25-7 run over a span of 7:37 to build their largest lead of the half at 32-12. Sidberry then began a 10-0 Mercy spurt with a three-pointer and scored the next six points, helping the Flyers cut the margin to seven, 32-25, with 6:27 to go in the first frame.  C.W. Post outscored Mercy 8-5 over the final 4:38 to take a 40-30 lead into the intermission.

            The Pioneers opened up the second stanza with another big run, this time outscoring the Flyers 23-2, to build a 63-32 advantage with 11:35 left in the contest. Mercy pulled within 25 at 63-38, after a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Michael Marin (Flushing, NY) with 10:12 to go, but the Flyers could pull no closer the rest of the way.

            Sidberry went 3-for-4 from the free throw line, while two of his three field goals came from behind the arc. Wellington went 4-for-6 from the field and hit his only three-point attempt of the day.  Jordan converted 7-of-10 at the charity stripe.  Marin contributed seven points and a team-high sex rebounds for Mercy.

            Four Pioneers scored in double-digits, led by George Skrelja's game-high 19 points. Raul Mercedes registered a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 12 boards for C.W. Post.

            The Flyers will return to action on Monday, January 22, at The Westchester County Center versus Bridgeport.  Mercy will honor former baseball standout and current big league pitcher Brian Sweeney at half-time. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and will follow the women's contest versus Bridgeport which begins at 5:00 p.m.
