Mercy Men’s Basketball Picks off Panthers, 59-56, to Complete Series Sweep
GARDEN CITY, NY – Senior guard Chanze Wellington (Spring Valley, NY) scored a team-high 19 points to help lead the Mercy College men’s basketball team to a 59-56 victory at Adelphi on Wednesday. The win completes a regular season series sweep as the Mavericks also defeated the Panthers 47-46 back on January 5.

Mercy College Names Elissa Krossber and Devon Mirjah November Student-Athletes of the Month
DOBBS FERRY, NY – Graduate student Elissa Krossber (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman) of the women’s basketball team and senior Devon Mirjah (Bronx, NY/Malverne) of the men’s basketball team have been selected as Mercy College’s Student-Athletes of the Month for November.

Mercy Basketball Doubleheader vs. NYIT on Saturday, December 9 Moved to Dobbs Ferry High School
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy College men’s and women’s basketball games on Saturday, December 9 have been moved to Dobbs Ferry High School. The men’s game time has been switched to a noon tip off, followed by the women’s contest at 2:00 pm.

Flyers’ Rally Falls Short versus Bloomfield 78-75
CALDWELL, NJ – The Mercy College men’s basketball team rallied from a 10-point deficit but fell just short, 78-75, against Bloomfield on day two of the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic hosted by Caldwell College. Junior guard Chanze Wellington (Spring Valley, NY) led four Flyers in double-digits with 19 points, while senior forward Devon Mirjah (Bronx, NY) registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Second Half Run Lifts Caldwell Over Mercy Men’s Basketball 69-58 at Commerce Bank Cougar Classic
CALDWELL, NJ – Junior guard Chanze Wellington (Spring Valley, NY) scored a team-high 16 points for the Mercy men’s basketball team, but a strong second half gave host Caldwell a 69-58 victory over the Flyers at the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic on Saturday, December 2. Mercy dropped to 1-3 overall, while the Cougars improved to 3-1.

Mirjah Pours in 25 as Mercy Men’s Basketball Downs New Haven 76-69, in ECC Opener
WHITE PLAINS, NY – Senior forward Devon Mirjah (Bronx, NY) scored a game-high 25 points, and junior guard Victor Sidberry (Bronx, NY) added 22 points and a game-high seven assists to lead the Mercy College men’s basketball team to a 76-69 victory over visiting New Haven in its East Coast Conference (ECC) opener at the Westchester County Center on Thursday.

Mercy to Host New Haven at Westchester County Center on November 30, in First Men’s and Women’s Basketball Doubleheader of the Season
DOBBS FERRY, NY – The Mercy College men’s and women’s basketball teams will host the University of New Haven on Thursday, November 30, in the first doubleheader of the season to be held at the Westchester County Center. Mercy’s women’s team will open up against the Chargers at 5:00 p.m., followed by the men at 7:00 p.m.

Stonehill Tops Mercy Men’s Basketball 72-55, at Harbor Yard
BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Mercy College men’s basketball team dropped a 72-55 decision at the hands of Stonehill in a non-conference game played at The Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT, on Wednesday. Mercy is now 0-2 on the year, while Stonehill improved to 3-0. The contest was played prior to No. 14 Georgetown versus Fairfield University.

Mercy to Play In NCAA Division I & II Men’s Basketball Doubleheader at Harbor Yard
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy College men’s basketball team will be part of a NCAA Division I & II doubleheader held at The Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT, on Wednesday, November 22. Mercy will tip-off against Stonehill at 4:30 p.m., followed by Georgetown versus Fairfield, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the doubleheader are good for both contests. They can be purchased at the Mercy College athletics department main office or at Harbor Yard.

Mercy Men’s Basketball Falls to Pace in Season Opener, 81-61
DOBBS FERRY, NY – Three Flyers scored in double-digits, led by Victor Sidberry’s (Bronx, NY) 15 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Mercy College men’s basketball team fell to Pace in its season opener, 81-61. Desmond Quincy-Jones (Rye, NY) and Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA) each scored 15 points for the Setters as they improved to 2-2.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation will sponsor a Fan Bus for students, faculty and staff, alumni, and their guests interested in attending a NCAA Division I & II men’s basketball doubleheader on Wednesday, November 22, at The Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT. The twin-bill will feature Mercy versus Stonehill, beginning at 4:30 p.m., followed by Georgetown versus Fairfield. The bus will be available to and from both the Bronx and Dobbs Ferry Campuses.

Mercy College Announces 2006-07 Men’s Basketball Schedule
DOBBS FERRY, NY – Mercy College head men’s basketball coach Steve Kelly announced the program’s final 2006-07 schedule on Tuesday, November 7. This year’s 27-game slate features a contest versus Stonehill to be played at The Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT, a tilt at Division I opponent Fairleigh Dickinson University, and tournaments hosted by Caldwell College and Dominican College.
