Christina Baxter Named NYCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College freshman guard Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY) has been selected as the NYCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year, while junior forward Dominick Cuzzi (Bronx, NY) earned a spot on the All-NYCAC Third Team on the men's side.

Baxter was named NYCAC Rookie of the Week three times this season. She averaged 11.1 points per game, good for third on the squad, netting a career-high 21 points at Queens on November 30. Baxter led the team in scoring in nine games. She leads the NYCAC in assists with 4.9 per game and is 10th in the conference in steals (2.0 spg).

Cuzzi, the 2004 NYCAC Rookie of the Year, led the Flyers in scoring at 16.1 points per game (7^th in NYCAC) and rebounding with 8.2 per contest (6^th in NYCAC). His .738 free throw percentage also ranks sixth in the league.  Cuzzi registered his 1000^th career point in a 75-69 win over New York Institute of Technology on February 22, becoming only the 11^th player in program history to reach the milestone.
