Bido United Takes Home Mercy Cup '07 as Intramurals and Recreation Kicks Off with Soccer Tournament
The Mercy College Intramural Soccer Tournament was held on Friday with Bido United, guided by captain Lou Bido, holding on for a 2-1 victory over C.D.S. in the championship game.
There were 30 students, faculty and staff on hand to participate in the first intramurals and recreation event of the year. The weather held out and after a 20-minute warm up period, complete teams were drafted.
Bido United reached the finals by holding on for a 5-4 win over The Threes, captained by Mercy College women's soccer alum Lindsay Levasseur, in the semifinals. In the other semifinal contest, captain Delmara Reece's C.D.S. squad pulled out a thrilling 7-6 overtime triumph versus Matt Walsh's team, F.C. Ackerman. The Threes and F.C. Ackerman would go on to finish with a 3-3 draw in the consolation match.
The next Mercy College intramurals and recreation event will be a Flag Football Tournament on Friday, October 26, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the soccer field at the Dobbs Ferry Campus. To participate, pre-register your team or sign up as a free agent at the Mercy College athletics department main office. Team roster forms can also be found at http://www.mercyathletics.com/ under the link for Intramurals. Transportation from the Bronx Campus is available with pre-registration at Campus Management by Wednesday, October 24.
