Mercy Bowl Champs - Red Dogs
Intramural Final - Red Dogs Run Past Big Blue in Mercy Bowl ‘07

Graig Lauricella and Mike Ferrante each caught three touchdowns from quarterback Craig Ross, and team captain Eric Bernal snatched a sixth, as the Red Dogs held off Big Blue to capture this year's intramural football championship, Mercy Bowl '07 on Friday.

Lauricella's first TD came from 12 yards out to give the Red Dogs an early 6-0 lead, but Chris Sanchez took the ensuing kick-off return to the house, running it back 50 yards for Big Blue to even the contest at 6-6.  The two squads traded two scores each to head into the half knotted at 18-18.  Ferrante caught two of his touchdowns, while Steve Marsar found Matt Moreno for Big Blue's two scores, including a 29-yard strike.

The second half was all Red Dogs as Ross picked off Marsar to give them momentum.  Following the interception, Ross connected with Bernal for a 30 yard touchdown pass that put the Red Dogs ahead for good at 30-25.

Big Blue faded down the stretch, turning the ball over on downs with seven minutes to go, and the Red Dogs put away the title with a 40 yard bomb from Ross to Lauricella on their final drive.

Mercy's next intramurals and recreation event will be the Hot Shot basketball skills competition on Friday, November 9.  The event will be held in the Mercy College gym at the Dobbs Ferry Campus beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Register today at the main athletics office.
