Nalbone Signs Contract With Professional Scout South Florida Winter League

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (June 21, 2017) – Mercy College baseball 2017 graduate Matt Nalbone (Islip, N.Y./Islip) has signed a contract with the professional scout South Florida Winter League that takes place in Fort Lauderdale.

Nalbone is part of the SFWL Affiliated team and will play independent league teams as well as minor league affiliations of major league teams from the end of October until the third week in November. The league allows players who are currently free agents to showcase their talents against these teams with the goal of signing a pro contact.

"I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to get out there and play some ball," stated Nalbone. "I can't thank my family, teammates and coaches enough for their endless support throughout my career at Mercy and helping me get to this point in my playing career."

Nalbone was a Second Team All-ECC performer in 2017 and concludes his career as the program's all-time leader in strikeouts (205) and games started (39) and is second in wins (14), complete games (11) and innings pitched (259.2).
