Mercy Baseball Drops 14-0 Game at New Haven
Less than 24 hours removed from claiming the fourth and final
spot in the upcoming ECC Championships, the Mercy baseball team
rounded out the regular season with a 14-0 loss at New Haven. UNH
is the 22nd ranked team in the country. Mercy now stands
at 18-26, while New Haven is 31-11.
Mercy managed just three hits, in a game that resembled a spring training game. In the fourth inning, Matt Walsh (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter’s Boys) and Graig Lauricella (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) both singled, but the Mavericks could not score.
Four different pitchers took the mound, with starter Charles DeHart (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter’s Boys) taking the loss.
Mercy, who is the #4 seed in the upcoming double-elimination ECC Championships, will play the #1 seed C.W. Post on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. STAC, the third seed, and Molloy, the second seed, will play in the other game on Day One. The three-day, double elimination tournament will be held at Dowling’s baseball complex, off of exit 68 on the LIE.
