Less than 24 hours removed from claiming the fourth and final spot in the upcoming ECC Championships, the Mercy baseball team rounded out the regular season with a 14-0 loss at New Haven. UNH is the 22nd ranked team in the country. Mercy now stands at 18-26, while New Haven is 31-11.

Mercy managed just three hits, in a game that resembled a spring training game. In the fourth inning, Matt Walsh (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter’s Boys) and Graig Lauricella (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) both singled, but the Mavericks could not score.

Four different pitchers took the mound, with starter Charles DeHart (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter’s Boys) taking the loss.

Mercy, who is the #4 seed in the upcoming double-elimination ECC Championships, will play the #1 seed C.W. Post on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. STAC, the third seed, and Molloy, the second seed, will play in the other game on Day One. The three-day, double elimination tournament will be held at Dowling’s baseball complex, off of exit 68 on the LIE.
