Matt Walsh Earns Second ECC Baseball Player of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College sophomore outfielder Matt Walsh (Staten Island, NY) was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday. He also earned the honor on March 2.
Walsh continued his hot batting, going 6-for-11 (.545) on the week, hitting safely in all three games and posted a .667 on base percentage. He went 3-for-5 with a walk against Concordia, 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a walk at St. Thomas Aquinas College, and 2-for-3 with two walks and a run batted in at Adelphi.
On the year, Walsh leads the Mavericks with a .412 batting average, 21 hits, two triples, 11 runs scored, a .524 on base percentage and is 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. He has also been solid on the mound, posting a 2.08 earned run average in three relief appearances, earning one save. In 4 1/3 innings of work he has struck out seven batters and allowed only two hits.
The Mavericks are scheduled to play at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday, April 7, beginning at 3 p.m.
