Boxscore

DOBBS FERRY, NY -  The Mercy College baseball team was defeated by visiting Felician College 8-3 in a non-conference game on Thursday. The Mavericks are now 10-20 on the year, while Felician improved to 16-16 overall.

Junior Jonathan Cohen (Roslyn Heights, NY) led the Mercy offense, going 3-for-5 with a pair of singles and his first home run as a Maverick.  Freshmen Chris Sanchez (Spring Valley, NY) and Michael Ferrante (Long Beach, NY) each went 2-for-3.

Felician jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, getting an RBI ground out from Jon Del Franco and a two-run single from Hector Bello.

The Mavericks got two back in the bottom of the third as Sanchez and sophomore Justin Muscarella (Plainedge, NY) each drew bases load walks.

The Golden Falcons answered with four runs in the top of the fourth to open up a 7-2 advantage. The big blow was a two-run triple from Mickey Zudonyi.

Felician would add an unearned run in the eighth to take an 8-2 lead.  The Mavericks then made it 8-3 on Cohen's blast over the left field fence to lead off the ninth, but they could pull no closer as Felician reliever Anthony Spina got the next three batters in order to end the game.

The Mavericks will resume East Coast Conference play on Saturday when they host Adelphi for a pair beginning at Noon.
