at Valley Stream North- Played four years of baseball as a catcher for coach Bachman...Received the Coaches Award his sophomore, junior, and senior years, team MVP his junior year, and All-County honors his senior year...Was a captain as a senior...His career batting average was .430...Also played two years of basketball as a guard for Coach Fragburg.

Personal- Son of Alan and Maria Dern...Physical therapy major...Played for Valley Stream Hawks and Long Island Tigers...He currently coaches a 13-14 year old summer league baseball team.
