Mercy College Baseball Falls at Bridgeport, 8-6 and 8-4

          BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Mercy College baseball team fell to Bridgeport in both ends of an East Coast Conference (ECC) doubleheader on Wednesday, April 25.  Bridgeport won the opener 8-6, before taking a rain-shortened game two, 8-4 (5 2/3 inn.)

          Mercy (2-32, 2-18 ECC) collected 11 hits in game one, getting two each from sophomore Ryan Johnson (Saugerties, NY), sophomore Ken Mundy (Valley Stream, NY), and freshman Marc Dern (Valley Stream, NY).

          Dern had an RBI single in the third inning and another in the fifth.  Mundy also plated a run in the fifth on a base hit. Johnson knocked in two runs in the seventh frame.

          The Flyers trailed 7-0 in game two, before scoring four times in the fourth inning, getting an RBI single from Craig Ross (Bellmore, NY) and an RBI double off the bat of Julian Tosado (Miami, FL).  Bridgeport got one back in the bottom of the inning and held Mercy scoreless until the contest was called.

          Mercy will return to action on Friday, April 27, with a non-conference home contest versus Bloomfield, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
