Mercy College Baseball Swept by No. 17 Franklin Pierce, 15-1 and 10-2

          WEST PALM BEACH, FL - The Mercy College baseball team fell in both ends of a doubleheader to Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 17 in the nation, on Sunday, March 18.  The Ravens won the opener 15-1, and took game two by a score of 10-2.

          In game one, Franklin Pierce (12-1) jumped out to a 7-0 lead with five runs in the second inning and two more in the third. The Flyers (0-11) got their run in the fourth frame on an RBI single from junior third baseman Craig Ross (Bellmore, NY), but the Ravens scored two in the bottom of the inning and added five more in fifth and another in the sixth.  Ross had both of Mercy's hits in the contest.

          Franklin Pierce pulled ahead early again in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.  Mercy got two back in the bottom of inning, cutting the deficit to 3-2.  Ross had another run scoring single, and scored the other run on an infield error.  The Ravens held Mercy scoreless from there and added seven more runs of their own.

          Mercy is scheduled to be back in action again on Tuesday, March 20, at home versus Bloomfield beginning at 3:00 p.m.
