Bloomfield Tops Mercy College Baseball, 7-1
BOCA RATON, FL - The Mercy College baseball team fell to Bloomfield by a score of 7-1, on Thursday, March 15, in a contest played at Lynn University. The Flyers are now 0-8 on the year.
After Bloomfield jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, Mercy responded with a run in the second on a solo home run from Ryan Johnson (Saugerties, NY).
Bloomfield regained the lead in the bottom of the second, posting three runs, and added another in the third to stretch the margin to 5-1.
The Deacons tacked on two more in the fifth and shut down the Mercy offense for the remainder of the contest to close it out.
Freshman center fielder Vinnie Tesoriero (Glen Head, NY) went 2-for-4 with a stolen base for Mercy. Junior left fielder Julian Tosado (Miami, FL) and freshman short stop Justin Muscarella (Plainview, NY) added base hits for the Flyers. Junior southpaw Sean Braille (Plainview, NY) gave Mercy four innings of strong relief and junior right hander Eric Dodge (Fabius, NY) added another.
Mercy will return to action on Saturday, March 17, at Palm Beach Atlantic University. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
