Felician Tops Mercy College Baseball, 12-9

          MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Mercy College baseball team fell by a score of 12-9 at the hands of Felician College on Sunday, February 25, in its final game at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Flyers are now 0-4 on the year, while Felician improved to 5-2.

          Mercy collected 12 hits on the day.  First baseman Steve Summer (East Meadow, NY) led the offense by going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs batted in.  Second baseman Ken Mundy (Valley Stream, NY) went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and one driven in. Center fielder Vinnie Tesoriero (Glen Head, NY) and third baseman Craig Ross (Bellmore, NY) each added two hits.

          After Felician scored two runs in the bottom of the first, Mercy answered with two in the second, getting an RBI single from left fielder Julian Tosado (Miami, FL). The Flyers added three more in the third to take a 5-2 lead, but Felician responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to knot the game at 5-5.

          Mercy posted single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, while Felician scored once in the fifth as the Flyers took an 8-6 lead into the seventh frame.  Felician then jumped back ahead 9-8 by scoring three times in the seventh.

          Mercy got one back in the eighth as Summer knocked in Mundy with a base hit after he had doubled with two outs, but Felician scored three more times in the bottom of the inning and closed it out in the ninth.

          The Flyers are scheduled to be back in action at home on Saturday, March 3, versus Post for a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 a.m.
