Mercy Student-Athletes, Coaches Participating in Susan Komen Race in NYC to Help Raise Money for Breast Cancer

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 15, 2011) – This Sunday, September 18, several Mercy College student-athletes, coaches and staff will be participating in the 2011 Susan Komen Greater NYC Race For the Cure at Central Park in Manhattan beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please visit the link below to help donate and to read more about what the Mavericks are doing.

Members from the Mercy women’s basketball, field hockey and softball teams will be volunteering along the race route. They will be helping and supporting the three Mercy runners: Head Women’s Basketball Coach Kelli Dunlay, Head Field Hockey Coach Kayte Kinsley and Head Athletic Trainer Meredith Pope. The run is three miles long.

All the participating Mavericks are running under the team name “Have Mercy.” They are kindly asking if anyone can donate and contribute to this great cause, to please visit: www.komennyc.org, and click on the DONATE/PLEDGE button. The donator can then select the option for “Search for a Team.” Enter into the box, Have Mercy. “Team Have Mercy” should appear and then follow that link to where you can make a donation.

Team Have Mercy is looking to hit its goal of raising $1,000 and would greatly appreciate any sort of help and contribution someone can give.

Tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m., Channel CBS-2 will be airing a one-hour special regarding the event.

Last year, this race raised $5.4 million dollars.
