Mercy College SAAC to Support Haiti Relief
The Mercy College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting donations on Saturday, January 30, 2010, on behalf of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, to support the relief effort after the devastating earthquakes in Haiti. Collections will take place in conjunction with the men’s and women’s basketball games, as the Mavericks will host Molloy College. MERCY CLOSES OUT 2010 SEASON WITH 102-85 LOSS TO NYIT
The Mercy College men’s basketball team saw its 2010 campaign close with a loss to New York Institute of Technology in an East Coast Conference game from the Mercy College Gymnasium on Saturday, February 27. The Mavericks finished the season with a 1-27 record, including a 1-20 mark in the ECC.

Mercy College Athletics Raises Funds in the Community
The Mercy College Department of Athletics has been busy throughout the last month collecting donations and spreading awareness for two social causes: Haitian relief and breast cancer awareness. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has taken a leadership role in this endeavor.

Baseball Doubleheader Scheduled For Saturday Postponed
(Dobbs Ferry, N.Y) – The Mercy college baseball team’s doubleheader games scheduled for Saturday, February 27 against Northeast-10 foes Merrimack College and Pace University have been postponed due to inclement weather. These games were originally slated to take place at the Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey. No makeup dates have been announced for either contest.

’98 Mercy College Grad Named Assistant Athletic Director At USF
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – On Jan. 4, Mercy College alumna Christina Cribbs ’98, was named the Assistant Athletic Director of Budget, Facilities & Events at University of San Francisco. Cribbs was a two-sport student-athlete at Mercy College, playing both softball and women’s basketball from 1993-97.

East Coast Conference Presents Dig Pink Check to Side-Out Foundation
Central Islip, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference presented a check in the amount of $6,255 to the Sid-Out Foundation in-between semifinal matches at the ECC Volleyball Championships on November 13. The money was raised throughout the ECC’s Dig Pink week, which spanned October 15 through October 24, and all funds raised will support the fight against breast cancer through research and education.

Mercy College Athletics Remembers: Anthony Macellaro, Men’s Golf Coach
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Anthony Macellaro was a staple at the Ardsley Country Club. He was also the face of the Mercy College men’s golf program from the early 1980’s until his retirement in 2004. A friend and colleague of former Mercy College Athletic Director and Inaugural Hall of Famer, Neil Judge, Macellaro, along with long-time assistant coach, Carol Strobel, led the Mercy College Flyers through a terrific run in the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC).

East Coast Conference Holds Fitness Challenge In Conjunction with Game Environment Workshop
Old Westbury, N.Y. – Student-athletes from all eight East Coast Conference institutions gathered at the New York Institute of Technology campus on Saturday to host the second-ever ECC Fitness Challenge for local youth.
