Four Mercy College Student Athletes Earn Spots on 2006 Fall ECC Honor Rolls

          DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Mercy College was recognized with four athletes being named to the 2006 Fall Sports East Coast Conference (ECC) Honor Rolls in their respective sports.  The conference announced the winners on Tuesday, February 13.  The Flyers received the awards in men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, and women's cross country.

          Senior midfielder Alexandre Augusto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was the recipient for the men's soccer team.  The business administration-finance major has a current cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.42.  He earned All-ECC Second Team honors this season, marking the third straight year as an All-ECC selection after earning a First Team spot as a junior and being named to the Second Team as a sophomore.  He led Mercy in scoring with four goals and ranked second with nine points this season. Augusto scored the game-tying goal on a penalty kick in a come from behind 2-1 win over NYIT, and netted two goals in a 3-0 win over Wilmington, including the game-winner.  He finished his career with 52 points in 54 games, scoring 17 goals and collecting 18 assists.

          Senior midfielder Lindsay Levasseur (Vancouver, Canada) was named to the women's soccer honor roll.  She is majoring in behavioral science with a GPA of 3.72.  Levasseur played in a total of 56 contests for Mercy, starting all but one and ranks among the program's all-time leaders in goals, assists, and points.  She scored three goals and recorded one assist for the Flyers in her senior campaign.  During her first year Levasseur scored two goals and dished out two assists.  She followed up by leading the team with seven points as a sophomore and dished out one assist as a junior.

          Senior Natalee Carty (Kingston, Jamaica) was the honoree for the Flyers in women's volleyball.  Carty's current GPA is 3.75 as a psychology major.  She played in all 22 matches this year, starting 16, and averaging 2.34 kills and 2.78 digs per game.  Carty also recorded 11 aces and 25 blocks.  Nine times this past season she was in double-figures in digs, posting a season-high 23 at Concordia.  Carty also had five matches in which she registered double-digits in kills, including a season-high 20 at Holy Family.

          Sophomore Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY) earned the honor in women's cross country.  The psychology major currently has a GPA of 3.31.  She placed 12th out of 65 competitors at the 2006 ECC Cross Country Championships to earn a spot on the All-ECC Second Team.  Klobus ran the 5K race in a time of 21:28, becoming only the second female in Mercy cross country history to earn All-Conference honors.  Her personal best time of 20:41 came at the St. Rose College Joust, where she finished fourth.
