Mercy Places 49 on ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll

Forty nine student-athletes from Mercy College have earned the distinction of being named to the East Coast Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for 2009-10. In all, almost 700 student-athletes from the league’s eight member institutions here honored.

The Commissioner’s Honor Roll is awarded to student-athletes who receive a 3.25 GPA or better in a given academic year.  This annual recognition, in addition to Scholar-Athlete awards, helps to uphold the East Coast Conference’s mission of promoting the total person and the ability to excel not only in the athletic arena but also in the classroom.

For the Mavericks, each sports program had at least one honoree. The softball program led the way, with eight members. Both the women’s and men’s lacrosse teams each had six, while baseball, women’s soccer and baseball each had five.

Conference-wide, ECC Commissioner Robert Dranoff noted that the eight East Coast Conference institutions continue to raise the bar academically, increasing the number of student-athletes honored over previous years (617 in 2008-09; 613 in 2007-08).
