Mavericks See Whopping 53 Student-Athletes Named to 2010-11 ECC Honor Roll; 47% Increase from Last Year
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – East Coast Conference Commissioner Robert Dranoff was proud to announce the 2010-11 ECC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which saw an outstanding 53 Mercy College student-athletes receive the prestigious accolade – the most in school history. The Commissioner’s Honor Roll is awarded to student-athletes who achieve a 3.25 GPA or higher in an academic year.
This year plays witness to a huge improvement as the Mavericks had a 47% increase in the number of student-athletes who received this honor.
“Congratulations to all those student-athletes who participated this past year in ECC athletics and to those who represent their institutions and the conference so well in the classroom, the community, as well as in their sport,” Commissioner Dranoff commented. “We are very proud of you!”
“This is the direct result of the coaches’ committed efforts to recruit outstanding students, as well as athletes! The individual coach’s pride, passion and true dedication to the student-athletes once they are here continues and adds to their success,” Mercy Director of Athletics Pat Kennedy boasted. “The ‘Athletic Power Hour Study Hall Program,’ which is run by the athletic department’s Senior Woman Administrator’s office with assistance from the Library Learning Center and in collaboration with the faculty, is a Division I model – highly regarded and contributed to this accolade.”
