Twelve Mavericks Receive DII ADA Academic Achievement Accolades

DOBBS FERRY, NY -  A total of 12 Mercy College student-athletes received 2008-09 Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA) Academic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT.  The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.

Mercy's honorees for the 2008-09 campaign were: Janet Wong (Vancouver, Canada), Kevin Gibson (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Tom Cannariato (Goshen, NY), David Hunte (Labrea, Trinidad and Tobago), Joon H. Lee (New Haven, CT), and Joon Y. Lee (New Haven, CT) from the cross country/track and field programs, Ashley Borofsky (Southington, CT) and Courtney Cochran (Wilmington, DE) from women's basketball, Casey Kondelka (Bloomingburg, NY) and Ann Meenagh (Dublin, Ireland) from the women's soccer team, and Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) and Ashley Zufelt (Farmington, NM) of the women's volleyball team.

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work at the institution, and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during the last academic year.
