Francesca DeLorenzo Named Assistant Athletics Director/Senior Women's Administrator

 

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Francesca DeLorenzo has been named Assistant Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator, as announced by Director of Athletics Pat Kennedy on Tuesday.

"We are very fortunate to have Francesca on staff as a full-time member of our team," said Kennedy.  Her delightful disposition and past year experience with the College will serve our department and student-athletes very well."

In her new roles, DeLorenzo will assist with compliance and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), while overseeing academic monitoring and the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program. She will also serve as a liaison for financial aid, admissions and academic advising.

Prior to this appointment, DeLorenzo served Mercy College as a Personalized Achievement Contract (PACT) Counselor.  In this position she served as a primary advisor and mentor for numerous students, helping them with the transition to college. DeLorenzo has also been on board as the first head coach of the women's lacrosse program since the fall of 2008.

A native of nearby Nyack, NY, DeLorenzo was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Division I Marist College from 2002-05 as a midfielder. She was a three-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic selection, two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll member and finished her career ranked eighth at Marist on the career games played list with 59.  During her career the Red Foxes made four MAAC Tournament appearances, earning a spot in the championship game in 2003.  As a senior in 2005, she ranked fourth on the team in goals and fifth in draw controls.

A Dean's List student at Marist, DeLorenzo earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2005 with a dual emphasis in marketing and finance along with a minor in Spanish language.  She will be working towards her master's in business administration.
