Mercy College Athletics Announces Fall 2009 Schedules

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College athletics department announced its fall 2009 schedules for men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's and women's cross country on Thursday.
The women's soccer squad will be the first to compete this fall as the Mavericks travel to Pace on Saturday, August 29, before their home opener on Monday, August 31, versus Wilmington at 2 p.m. New head coach Jonathan Feinstein will see his team begin East Coast Conference (ECC) play on Saturday, September 19, at Dowling. Other home contests on his 14-game schedule include Post, SUNY Maritime, Bloomfield, St. Thomas Aquinas, Bridgeport, and Felician. The ECC Women's Soccer Tournament will be held November 6 and 8.
The Mercy College men's soccer team will get the 2009 campaign underway on Wednesday, September 2, when it plays host to Holy Family. The Mavericks will begin ECC competition on Sunday, September 27, at NYIT. The squad will play a total of 14 regular season games, including non-conference tilts at Stonehill, Lock Haven, and Dominican. The Mavericks will also host former ECC rival Concordia, Molloy, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Bridgeport. This year's ECC Men's Soccer Tournament will be held November 6 and 8.
Under the direction of first year head coach Reggie Pantophlet, women's volleyball will serve it up beginning on Thursday, September 3, when it hosts Dominican before playing the next 11 matches on the road. The Mavericks will return home to begin ECC play on Thursday, October 1, versus NYIT. They will also entertain Felician, Bridgeport, Queens, Molloy, Dowling, and C.W. Post at home. The ECC Volleyball Tournament will take place November 11, 13, and 14.
Mercy's men's and women's cross country squads will have a slate that includes nine events this fall. The season gets underway on Saturday, September 5, at the College of St. Rose Joust, followed by the ECC Preview hosted by C.W. Post on Saturday, September 12. This year's ECC Championships will be held on Saturday, October 24, followed by the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 7, and the ECAC/IC4A Championships on November 21.
