Mercy College SAAC Holds Charity Volleyball Match to Benefit Kay Yow Breast Cancer Fund
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The
Mercy College Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) held a
charity volleyball match with all proceeds benefiting the Kay
Yow Breast Cancer Fund on Tuesday evening.
The two teams played the best of five sets to 15 points each.
"Going Green" defeated "The Justice League" in four sets in a
battle of efficient energy versus super powers.
The members of "Going Green" were: Shedeiky Hamilton, Mirlusca
Montes, John Ceravino, Raldino Powell, Camelle Barette, Hugo
Bernal, and Lisa Mills.
"The Justice League's" members were: Stephen Marsar as Batman,
Justin McMullen as Flash, Bridgette Pennelle as Cat Woman, Ashley
Zufelt as Wonder Woman, Earl Pommills as Super Earl, and Luka
Trekman as The Green Lantern.
"Going Green" took the first set 15-9 and appeared to be the
dominant team. However, "The Justice League" tied the match at one
with a 15-12 win highlighted by several strong kills by Super Earl
Pommills.
"Going Green" regained its momentum taking the final two sets by a
score of 15-8, 15-11. The two squads helped raise a substantial
amount for the Kay Yow Breast Cancer Fund.
"Beyond the dollars raised, our local education component informed
many people about the nature of the disease and its impact on
life," SAAC advisor Dr. Darryl Bullock said.
The Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund is the Women's Basketball Coaches
Association charity of choice in partnership with The V Foundation.
