Michael Frimpong-Manso and Diana Bruzzone Named Mercy's September Student-Athletes of the Month
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Senior men's soccer player Michael Frimpong-Manso (Accra, Ghana) and sophomore volleyball player Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) have been selected as Mercy College's Student-Athletes of the Month for September.
In seven games to open the season, Frimpong-Manso posted 15 points on a team-leading six goals and three assists, scoring at least one goal in five of the seven outings. In a 4-0 shutout of Goldey Beacom, he registered a goal and two assists. Five days later he tallied two goals, including what would be the game-winner, and assisted on the other goal, in a 3-1 triumph at Felician. He also scored Mercy's goals in a pair of 1-1 ties to open the season. Frimpong-Manso currently leads the ECC with 2.11 points per game and 0.89 goals per game, and ranks second in total points (19) and goals (8).
Bruzzone led the squad with 44 service aces, 212 digs (4.24 per game), ranked second on the team with 137 kills and 2.74 kills per game, posting a .181 attack percentage. She registered double-digit kills in seven matches, with a season-high 20 vs. Southern Connecticut State. She narrowly missed a triple-double in that match as she also posted 17 digs and nine service aces. Bruzzone collected double-digit digs in 10 matches, including 20 or more in four, and a season-high 29 twice.
