Mercy College Athletics Announces Fall 2007 Schedules

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College athletics department announced its fall 2007 schedules for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, cross country, and men's tennis on Tuesday.

The volleyball squad will start things off on August 31 and September 1, when the Mavericks travel to take part in the Assumption Tournament.  Mercy will remain on the road until the September 18 home opener versus Southern Connecticut State at 7:00 p.m. That match will be followed by the Mavericks' East Coast Conference (ECC) opener versus New Haven at home on September 25, at 7:00 p.m. (All home matches at Dobbs Ferry High School). The ECC Volleyball Tournament will be held November 7-9.

The Mercy men's soccer team will open up the 2007 campaign at home on September 6 versus Caldwell at 4:00 p.m.  Five of the Mavericks' next six matches will be on the road, including their ECC opener on September 26, at New Haven.  The ECC Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinals are scheduled for October 31, with the title game to be held on November 3.

The women's soccer team is slated to kick off on September 22, at home versus conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas at 12:00 p.m. Mercy will play nine of its 10 ECC tilts before traveling to non-conference opponent Felician on October 25. This year's ECC Women's Soccer Tournament Semifinals will take place on November 2, and the Championship on November 4.

Mercy's men's and women's cross country squads have a schedule that includes eight meets this fall.  The season gets underway on September 8, at the Fordham Invitational, followed by the Connecticut College Invitational on September 22.  This year's ECC Championships will be held on October 21, followed by the NCAA Regionals on November 3, and the ECAC/IC4A Championships on November 17 to close out the season.

The men's tennis team, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 last spring and finished the year ranked No. 31 in the nation, has one event scheduled during the fall.  This year's squad will compete at the ITA Eastern Championships, hosted by Bloomsburg University from September 29-October 2.
