Mercy College Student Athletes Graduate on Wednesday, May 28, 2008

DOBBS FERRY, NY - At the 73rd Mercy College Commencement Ceremony, 28 past and present Mercy College student-athletes received undergraduate degrees, six received graduate degrees and one received both. The ceremonies were held at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY, on Wednesday, May 28.

Many members of this year's class graduated with honors. Rose Harper of the women's volleyball team and Natalya Wells of the cross country team graduated Summa Cum Laude.   Natalee Carty from the women's volleyball team, Susan Paulsen from track and field/cross country and Nizar Chahbani from men's soccer all graduated Magna Cum Laude.  Thomas Cannariato of the track and field/cross country team and Bradley Harring of the track and field and baseball programs graduated Cum Laude.

A total of 11 former student-athletes graduated with department honors in Accounting, Behavioral Science, Computer Arts and Technology, Computer Information Systems, Criminal Justice, Mathematics, Media Studies, Psychology, and Spanish. Chanze Wellington from the men's basketball team is also a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, the national criminal justice honor society, and Harper is a member of Phi Sigma Iota, the international foreign language honor society.

Three former student-athletes that received masters degrees graduated with distinction, Camele Clarke (volleyball), Lina Orfino (women's soccer/track and field), and Natalya Wells (Cross Country). Mercy College Head men's basketball coach Anthony Staffiere also received his master's degree, graduating with distinction.
