Mercy College Softball and Baseball to Hold 100-inning Fundraiser

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College softball and baseball teams will play their first annual 100 inning softball game on Saturday, May 10.  The game, which will take approximately six hours to complete, will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Mercy College softball field on the Dobbs Ferry Campus.

This unique event will help raise funds to enhance the operating budget of both programs.  Each of the participating members of the Mavericks' teams will play 2-3 hours with a handful that will attempt to play all 100 frames. Mercy College faculty and staff are also invited to participate, either as a player, umpire, sponsor, or fan.  Concessions will be available throughout the event.

"This is sure to be a fun-filled day for everyone involved and contributions will help enhance the softball and baseball programs," said Head Softball Coach Jacqui Huffman. "Both programs have worked hard throughout the year and it's a great way to cap off the season."

"This is a wonderful way to close out 2008 and begin our steps to prepare for the 2009 season," said Head Baseball Coach Bill Sullivan. "All of our student-athletes appreciate the support as the funds raised will be a vital piece to advance our operations."
