Finnegan and Flowers Named Athletes of the Month

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Senior men's basketball player Paul Flowers (New York, NY) and freshman women's basketball player Ashley Finnegan (Worcester, MA) have been named Mercy College's February Male and Female Athletes of the Month.
Flowers, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, averaged 10.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 steals, and 1.5 assists in six games. He registered a pair of double-doubles, shooting 55 percent (26-47) from the field and 62 percent (13-21) at the free throw line. Flowers scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and picked up four steals versus Bridgeport. He followed with a 14 point, 11 rebound performance versus Queens, and closed out the month with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and seven steals in a thrilling double overtime victory over New Haven.
A 6-foot forward, Finnegan averaged 13.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.0 block per game, shooting 54 percent from the field and 75 percent (9-12) at the free throw line. She scored in double-digits in six of seven contests and registered three double-doubles. Finnegan contributed to a win over C.W. Post with 14 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and four steals. After recording 16 points and 11 boards versus Queens, she netted 22 points on 9-of-12 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds versus New Haven.
