The Mercy College womens basketball team suffered a 74-52 defeat at the hands of Dowling College this afternoon in Oakdale, N.Y. February 1, 2010 Van Cott Named ECC Rookie of the Week
The East Coast Conference has named Mercy Colleges Bryan Van Cott (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) its mens basketball Rookie of the Week, for the period ending January 31, 2010. Van Cott averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Mavericks (1-19; 1-12 ECC) lost to St. Thomas Aquinas College, 84-73, and Molloy College, 106-93.

The Mercy College mens basketball faced Molloy College today, and walked away with a 106-93 loss at the Mercy College Gym. Mercy trailed by as many as 23 points in the second half, and fought back to cut the lead to as few as eight with 26 seconds to play.

January 29, 2010 Mercy College SAAC to Support Haiti Relief
The Mercy College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting donations on Saturday, January 30, 2010, on behalf of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, to support the relief effort after the devastating earthquakes in Haiti. Collections will take place in conjunction with the mens and womens basketball games, as the Mavericks will host Molloy College. The womens game played at noon, and the mens game scheduled for 2 p.m.
