Pat Kennedy was appointed Director of Athletics at Mercy College in  August of 2008.  Kennedy had served in a recruiting and external outreach role at Mercy since April.

Kennedy brings a wealth of experience in building collegiate athletic programs and is no stranger to the East Coast Conference (ECC). Her background includes 13 years as the women's athletic director at fellow ECC institution Long Island University - C.W. Post where she was inducted into the athletics Hall of Fame in 2005. During her tenure she served on various committees, founding and presiding over numerous regional and conference associations to promote the advancement of women's collegiate athletics. Kennedy also spearheaded major fundraising efforts, including two European tours with the women's basketball program.

Kennedy was the head field hockey coach and head women's basketball coach at C.W. Post for six years. She served on the NCAA Regional Field Hockey Committee and is a past president of the Long Island Field Hockey Association (LIFHA), which is a chapter of the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA).

Most recently, Kennedy started the field hockey program at Adelphi University in 2007, another member of the ECC. In addition to her coaching experience she has directed field hockey and basketball summer camps since 2000 in Garden City, NY and has been an Associate Professor of Physical Education at Hofstra University and Adelphi.

Kennedy also spent four years as assistant director of admissions at the State University of New York, Maritime College from 2003-07.  She planned and implemented marketing and public relations campaigns to drive enrollment and directed special events.

Kennedy earned her bachelor's degree in political science and psychology at SUNY - Oneonta and received a master's degree in education at Penn State University.  A dedicated mother, she has five children - daughter Meghan (21) and sons John (23), Terry (19), Ryan (17) and Liam (14).
